These "cash for grass " programs generally have a few steps to get your rebate

1 - Pre-Inspection - Call your locality to arrange an inspection and measurement of your lawn 
2 - Complete your landscape remodel in a specified time, usually 3-4 months
3 - Final Inspection - They send someone out to see your finished yard
4 - Then they will cut you a check

Each area has its own specific rules and time frames, links are included below for easy reference.  

Solano County : 

  • Lawn replacement $1/ rebate per square foot up to $1000 

 

Napa:

  • Lawn replacement $1/ rebate per square foot up to $750 for homeowners and $2500 for commercial properties 

 

Sacramento:

  • Program has been approved, still pending details 

Roseville : 

  • Lawn replacement $ .50 / per square foot up to $500

 

City of Sonoma : 

  • Lawn replacement $.75/ per square foot up to $1000 for homeowners and $3000 for commercial properties

 

City of WIndsor: 

  • $.50/ per square foot for lawn replacement and 50% of eligible equipment - no max listed on website, call for details

 

Contra Costa County :

  • Lawn replacement $.50 / square foot up to $500 for homeowners and $5000 for commercial properties 
  • *Provided by Contra Costa Water District, which serves the following cities:  Clayton, Clyde, Concord, Pacheco, Port Costa, Martinez, Antioch, Bay Point, Pittsburg, Oakley, and parts of Brentwood, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek.

 

East Bay MUD:

  • $.50 / per square foot for lawn conversion 
  • Replace sprinklers with drip lines or high efficiency nozzles rebate
  • Irrigation Controller Rebate 
  • Total rebate up to $2500 for homeowners or $20,000 for commercial properties

 

Northern Marin County : 

  • Lawn replacement $.50 / per square foot up to $400 (in 100 square foot increments) 
  • They also offer a Smart Irrigation Controller rebate and a rebate for qualifying water efficient equipment, such as drip irrigation systems.

 

Marin Municipal Water District:

  • Irrigation Controller Replacement Rebate - Currently no "cash for grass" program
